Young People

REBOUND hasn’t been developed merely by scientists and teachers. Young people between 13 and 24 have played a major role in the development of REBOUND by contributing their ideas and criticism.

During the developmental phase of REBOUND from 2009 until 2010, a group of young people had been meeting once a week to try out different role plays, theatre exercises and discuss about alcohol and other drugs. This group of young people has been part of the cast of the first series of REBOUND films which are now used in class. Also, nine of these youths have been trained to be peer- mentors (classroom assistants in the REBOUND course) and they received a certificate of the University of Heidelberg.

In the year 2011 a new group of about 30 young people between 15 and 24 has joined and all of them have been trained to be peer-mentors (classroom assistants). The peer-mentors meet at least once a month at the Mentor-Café to talk about their experience in the classroom. The youths and young adults come from different schools throughout the region or are students at the university (majoring in Social Work, Health Promotion or future teachers).

We are currently looking for young people in the London area who are interested in participating in this exciting new project – be it as actor in one of our films or as peer-mentor. If you are interested in participating please write to Lena Haubold at contact.
